„Given the difficult situation in which we find ourselves, taking into account the ever-increasing tariffs for natural gas, a consensus must be found with the Russian Federation, Moldova's strategic partner, regarding the delivery of natural gas at an affordable price. As leader of the opposition, I will make a request for negotiations in this regard”. The announcement was made by the leader of the "SHOR" party, Ilan Shor, in a video posted on his Facebook page.
„Natural gas prices have risen again. Moldovagaz (the supplier), however, is unhappy and is shouting loudly that the tariff should be increased further. Now it's summer and many don't feel what this tariff means. There is little time left until autumn and winter and the risk of our people freezing from cold and cope with hunger is quite high. And food will get so expensive that no one will be able to afford it. Inflation will reach 45%, the leu will collapse and there will be catastrophe in Moldova. People simply won't be able to survive”, warns Ilan Shor.
Moreover, the leader of the "SHOR" Party criticizes the fact that the current government does not strive to find solutions to overcome the crisis, but on the contrary, worsens the situation.
„Maia Sandu and her ruling party, for the sake of their Western masters, have destroyed relations with our country's strategic partner - the Russian Federation. Consequently, we have what we have. The standard of living has reached the lowest level. The current government has betrayed the interests of the country and its citizens, they no longer represent us in any way, and tomorrow or the day after tomorrow they will pack their luggage and go abroad. There, where they will do well, where they can work for the IMF or other international structures”, stated Ilan Shor.
Therefore, says the leader of the "SHOR" Party, we are obliged to find a consensus with the Russian Federation, the strategic partner of the Republic of Moldova, regarding the supply of gas. Otherwise, citizens will suffer even more.
„In view of the difficult situation we are in, as leader of the opposition party, I will address tomorrow the Russian Federation, Moldova's strategic partner, with the request to negotiate with the opposition on the situation related to the supply of natural gas to our country. As a responsible opposition party, we believe that we must try, do everything possible and impossible, so that, for the sake of the interests of our country's citizens, we find a consensus with the Russian Federation on the supply of natural gas at an affordable price. Nothing is more important than the lives of our citizens, which is why we must seek solutions in Moldova's favour”, concluded Ilan Shor.
The National Agency for Energy Regulation (NAER) established this week a new tariff for natural gas. Household consumers will pay 23 lei per cubic metre of gas, or by 4.39 lei more. Moldovagaz, a subsidiary of Gazprom, had previously asked for a higher increase of more than 60%, which would have meant a tariff of almost 30 lei per cubic metre of gas.
